Produced by Bodega Alto Moncayo, Alto Moncayo is sorted from 30 to 70-year-old Grenache vineyards planted in very poor soils on the hillsides of the Moncayo mountain range, Aragón.
It is worth noting that this Spanish red wine is crafted by world-class Australian winemaker Chris Ringland, from Barossa Valley.
The grapes were hand harvested at a slightly late ripening stage. Then they were fermented in stainless steel tanks.
Transferred into French and American oak barrels, Alto Moncayo 2020 went through malolactic fermentation and was subsequently aged for a period of 18 months.
As a side note, the 2007 and 2009 vintages of this Crianza red wine from DO Campo de Borja were given a perfect, 100-point score by Robert Parker, who also wrote enthusiastically about them.
Pair this red wine from Campo de Borja with game dishes and casseroles.
