A varietal Xarel·lo, Albet i Noya El Fanio is made by Albet i Noya. Based in Penedès, the winery pioneered the introduction of organic farming in Catalonia almost 40 years ago.
Produced from a 2-hectare vineyard planted in 1948, the harvest was carried out manually. Once in the cellar, this Spanish white wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks for 18 days under controlled temperature.
After that, this organic white wine was aged for 8 months: one third was kept in the tanks, one third was aged in egg-shaped concrete vats, which allow for natural micro-oxygenation and recirculation, and one third went through the process in acacia barrels, less invasive than the oak ones.
Finally, the wine musts were blended, and Albet i Noya El Fanio 2021 was gently filtered and bottled.
This varietal white wine from Penedès has a limited production. Pair with rice dishes and tapas.
