Produced by the Agustí Torelló Mata winery, Agustí Torelló Mata Gran Reserva Barrica is a particularly food-friendly Spanish sparkling wine.
A varietal Macabeo, this Cava Gran Reserva is made from 30-year-old vineyards which, for the first time, are certified organic.
First, the grapes were fermented and aged on lees for 8 months in French oak barrels.
Then the wine was blended and bottled. After completing secondary fermentation, Agustí Torello Mata Gran Reserva Barrica 2018 was aged for a minimum of 48 months.
Creamy and Champagne-like, this sparkler is a different take on traditional Cava. It certainly deserves a try.
