One of the two flagship wines of bodega Abadía de Poblet, a brand of Grupo Codorníu, Abadía de Poblet El Tossal de la Salut is the only varietal Grenache red wine produced in DO Conca de Barberà, southern Catalonia.
A distinctively fresh Spanish red wine, the grapes come from a single, north-oriented vineyard with slate and red clay soils located in the Prades mountain range, on the boundary between Conca de Barberà and Priorat, at 700 metres of altitude.
Hand-harvested in mid October, once in the cellar the grapes were gently crushed and fermented whole bunch in concrete diposits with wild yeasts. After that, the red wine was macerated for 23 days with the skins and aged for 14 months with periodic pump-overs.
This is an uncommon and captivating red wine from Conca de Barberà.
Aerate some time before drinking.
