Produced in DO Pla de Bages, Abadal Picapoll is, predictably, a varietal Picapoll. This is an indigenous white grape which has become one of the emblems of the DO Pla de Bages, located in central Catalonia.
The Abadal winery, by the way, has been the main responsible of this fortunate recovery.
This varietal Spanish white wine is made from vines located at an altitude of 600 metres above sea level.
Hand-harvested, the grapes were macerated with the skins for 10 hours, gently pressed and fermented in stainless steel tanks. Then Abadal Picapoll 2022 was aged on its lees for 3 months in those same tanks. Finally, it was filtered and clarified.
Pair this white wine from Pla de Bages with fish recipes. This is excellent, for instance, with grilled salmon.
