This the new vintage – the 11th one already – of a most unconventional Spanish red wine, a varietal Pinot Noir made from grapes coming from a single plot planted in the year 2002 in Montsant. Located at an altitude of 500 metres above sea level, the soils are composed mainly of clay and the yields are extremely low.
Produce by Celler de Capçanes, Pinot Noir de Capçanes was harvested by hand at the beginning of September. After a meticulous selection process on site and in the cellar, the grapes were macerated and fermented in stainless steel tanks using indigenous yeasts.
After that, this red wine from Montsant underwent malolactic fermentation in 300-litre French oak barrels. Finally, it was aged for 12 months in the barrels, clarified with egg whites, and bottled unfiltered.
Since Pinot Noir is not recognized as an authorized grape by the DO Montsant, this Crianza red wine bears the label DO Catalunya.

A very rare wine indeed. Only 800 bottles produced.
